FIND YOUR NEXT STEP

A little structure for a complicated process.

Practical prompts for finding care, preparing records, and keeping the conversation going.

Start with one next step.

You do not have to solve every access problem in one call. These prompts can help you organize a conversation with a practice, insurer, or care team. They do not guarantee an appointment or coverage.

01

Before contacting a practice

  • Write down the type of help you need and your main questions.
  • Ask whether the clinician sees patients with your concerns and can discuss ongoing medication care.
  • Ask about new-patient availability, referrals, accessibility and interpreter arrangements.

“I’m looking for help reviewing my current treatment and planning follow-up. Is that something this practice can discuss?”

02

Clarify access and costs

  • Ask the practice and your insurer about network status, referrals and expected charges.
  • Keep the date, contact name and reference number for coverage conversations.
  • If access is delayed, ask the current care team whom to contact in the meantime.
03

Bring the useful information

  • Bring your medication list, allergies, relevant records and top questions.
  • Ask how records can be transferred securely; avoid posting them in public discussions.
  • If helpful, invite a trusted person to take notes with your permission.
04

Leave with a contact plan

  • Ask for written next steps and the follow-up date.
  • Confirm who handles questions between appointments and after hours.
  • If you want another opinion, ask how to obtain records and whether a referral is needed.

If medication supply or access is becoming urgent

Contact your prescribing team or pharmacist promptly to explain the situation and ask about the appropriate next step. Do not use this checklist to decide on a medication change. For an immediate emergency, use emergency services.

Use a short call script.

“My main concern is ____. My next appointment is ____. Who should I contact about this, and when should I expect a response?”

Ask the practice for its actual response times. BenzoHelp does not monitor calls or arrange care.
